The development prospects of urban rail transit in China in the next 30 years are promising.Taking into account the acceleration of urbanization and the approaching peak of population growth under the family planning policy,it is expected that by 2040,China will achieve a relatively high degree of urbanization and the urban population will gradually stabilize.During this process, major cities in China should simultaneously strengthen the construction of rail transit, and by around 2040,a relatively ideal rail transit network should be basically completed. If the above development goals and construction policies can be confirmed, then the development prospects of China's urban rail transit in the next 30 years will be very promising, and it will write the most brilliant chapter in the history of China's infrastructure construction.
Based on the non-agricultural population in urban areas at the end of 2007,if calculated at an average growth rate of 3%,after 32 years,by early 2040,the total population of the 128 cities in China with a population of over 500000 will increase by 1.58 times, from the current 191.245 million to 493.412 million. This means that in the future, approximately 500 million people, accounting for one-third of China's total population at that time, will live in cities with a population of over one million.Overall, this possibility exists. At that time, the number of cities with a population of more than 4 million in China may reach 34,which can accommodate 294 million people.According to the calculation of one kilometer per 10000 people,29400 kilometers of rail transit is needed. There may be 39 cities with populations ranging from 2 to 4 million, accommodating 110 million people.Based on an estimated distance of 0.8 kilometers per 10000 people,8800 kilometers of rail transit are needed; The population size of the remaining 55 cities with a current population of over 500000 may increase to between 1.3 and 2 million people, accommodating 89 million people.Based on a rough estimate of 0.6 kilometers per 10000 people,5300 kilometers of rail transit are needed. In total, there are over 40000 kilometers of rail transit waiting to be constructed in these cities over the next 30 years, making rail transit the best profession for future employment.
Why build a subway? In addition to the convenience of citizens'lives, the driving force of the economy cannot be ignored.
The opening of the subway will first benefit the commercial districts along the line.Commercial, commercial, residential, and entertainment facilities are gathered through rail transit to form a new urban center and stimulate regional development.
On April 28th,the day Suzhou Metro Line 1 opened, the passenger flow of cinemas along the subway line immediately increased by 10%to 15%.In Beijing,Shanghai,Guangzhou and other places, the long-lasting prosperity of some subway business districts has also become the most powerful example.
In the era of scarce land resources, the subway has successfully enabled businesses to"seek space underground".Take Suzhou as an example. On the day when the Suzhou subway was opened to traffic, the Xinghai Life Plaza,a rail commercial complex integrating catering, leisure, entertainment and shopping, was designed simultaneously with the subway. In this regard,well-established subway cities such as Beijing,Shanghai, and Hong Kong have good precedents to follow, and large commercial clusters that connect up and down can be seen everywhere in Causeway Bay,Hong Kong.
Of course, the commercial value of the subway is not limited to just one city. While dredging the"commercial veins"within the city, many subway systems have extended their tentacles further and connected to nearby city lines. In Guangdong, the first intercity subway line in mainland China, the Guangfo Metro,is about to be completed. The first section of the Guangfo Line, which has already been built, has shortened the transportation travel time between the central urban areas of Guangfo to half an hour, taking a big step towards regional economic integration in the Pearl River Delta.According to the plan, the Yangtze River Delta will also usher in a"cross provincial era"of subway. At present, the pattern of intercity subway and rail transit lines in Shanghai,Suzhou, and Wuxi has basically taken shape, which will also inject new impetus into accelerating integration in the Yangtze River Delta region. The Shenyang Metro has already opened Line 1 and Line 2,and is accelerating the construction of other lines. The construction of subways and urban railways undoubtedly brings convenience to people living in cities, while also providing many employment opportunities. The intercity rail transit operation profession is a very promising industry for future development.
